Napa Valley “Right Bank” Bordeaux Style Wines
The new vintage of PALAZZO 2007 Cabernet Franc is BEAUTIFUL! It’s showing wonderfully right now … with ‘gorgeous floral tones’ of crushed violets, red cherries … and a hint of cardamom laced throughout the nose. On the palate the wine once again has an ‘elegance & finesse’ rarely seen in Napa Valley Cabernet Franc’s. The structure & acidity in the wine allows it to ‘dance on the palate’ with a brightness and purity … revealing crushed cherries & red raspberry fruit … mixed with a spiciness & hint of earth / minerality. The mouth feel is rich, with a beautiful and supple mid-palate texture … along with a wonderful, elegant finish!
I am very excited to be announcing the release of my ‘2nd Vintage’ of PALAZZO 2007 Cabernet Franc! Thank you to everyone who helped make my ‘first bottling’ available to the marketplace such a tremendous success! The wine was received extremely well across the country and I’m proud to say my it received 93 Points from Robert Parker / The Wine Advocate!
After releasing the first two vintages of my ‘Right Bank’ inspired Palazzo Napa Valley Red Wine, I was hugely honored to be ask by chef/owner, Thomas Keller, if I would produce an “exclusive bottling” of Palazzo Cabernet Franc, for his famous restaurants the French Laundry in Napa Valley… Per Se in New York City … and Bouchon in Las Vegas. Of course I said “yes”… and the wine was received extremely well that year … And was the impetus for me moving ahead and producing my first Palazzo 2006 Cabernet Franc for the marketplace!
This year my PALAZZO 2007 Cabernet Franc is once again made from grapes from Truchard Vineyards in the Carneros region of Napa Valley. I continue to feel that this area, more so than other growing regions in Napa Valley, produces fruit more reminiscent both in flavor & complexity, like fruit from the ‘Right Bank’ region of Bordeaux.
My love affair with the wines produced from the Bordeaux region of France began almost 30 years ago. Particularly, wines from the small, family owned Chateau’s that dot the rolling hillsides of the beautiful ‘Right Bank’ countryside of St. Emilion & Pomerol. It is from there, that my inspiration and passion for producing PALAZZO WINE continues to come.
Our goal at PALAZZO is, and always will be, to produce beautiful wines of outstanding quality, with distinction and class! Wines that are both ‘powerful and elegant’ … and pair well with a broad range of foods … Reminiscent of the style and quality of wines that come from the wonderful ‘Right Bank’ region of Bordeaux, Franc!
